Cookie Policy
Last Updated: December 25, 2025
Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how Chronos AI ("Chronos", "we", "us", or "our") handles cookies and similar technologies on our website (chronosai.org) and in our Chrome extension.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device to remember information about your visit. They're commonly used for:
- Keeping you logged in
- Remembering your preferences
- Tracking website analytics
- Serving personalized advertisements
Our Cookie-Free Approach
Chronos does not use cookies. Here's what we use instead:
On Our Website (chronosai.org):
- No tracking cookies: We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking
- No advertising cookies: We don't serve ads or use marketing cookies
- Server-side analytics only: We collect basic visit statistics (page views, referrers) on our server, without using cookies
- No persistent identifiers: We cannot track individual users across sessions
In Our Chrome Extension:
- No cookies used: The extension does not set or read any cookies
- Chrome's Local Storage API: We use Chrome's built-in storage API to save your preferences locally on your device
- OAuth tokens: Authentication tokens for Google/Outlook are stored securely using Chrome's encrypted storage, not cookies
What Data Do We Collect?
Since we don't use cookies, here's what we do collect:
Website Analytics (Server-Side):
- Page visit counts
- Referrer information (which site sent you to us)
- General browser and device information (user agent)
- IP addresses (for abuse prevention only, not for tracking)
This data is collected server-side, not through cookies, and does not track individual users across sessions.
Extension Local Storage:
- Your calendar preferences (Google/Outlook selection)
- Draft calendar events (before you confirm them)
- Input text (so you can resume where you left off)
This data is stored locally on your device only using Chrome's storage API. It never leaves your device and is not synced to our servers.
Third-Party Services
While we don't use cookies, our extension communicates with third-party APIs:
- OpenAI API: For natural language processing (does not use cookies)
- Google Calendar API: For calendar access (uses OAuth, not cookies)
- Microsoft Outlook API: For calendar access (uses OAuth, not cookies)
These services may have their own cookie policies on their respective websites, but our extension does not interact with their cookies.
Browser Local Storage vs. Cookies
| Feature | Cookies | Chrome Local Storage (What We Use) |
|---|---|---|
| Sent to server | Yes, with every request | No, stays on your device |
| Accessible by third parties | Potentially, yes | No, isolated to our extension |
| Used for tracking | Commonly used | Cannot be used for tracking |
| Storage limit | ~4KB per cookie | ~10MB total |
Your Control
Since we don't use cookies, there's nothing to accept or decline. However, you can:
- Clear local storage: Uninstall the Chronos extension to remove all locally stored data
- View what's stored: Use Chrome DevTools to inspect what data is stored locally
- Disable storage: Revoke the "storage" permission from the extension (though this will prevent Chronos from saving your preferences)
Changes to This Policy
If we ever decide to use cookies in the future, we will update this policy and notify you appropriately. We are committed to transparency and will always give you control over your data.
EU Cookie Law & GDPR Compliance
Under EU law (ePrivacy Directive and GDPR), websites must obtain consent before using cookies. Since Chronos does not use cookies, we do not require cookie consent banners or disclosures.
If you are located in the EU, please also review our GDPR & Data Protection page for information about your data rights.
